The Division of the “Bersaglieri” on Leave of Legnano was formed in 1928, just after an unforgettable parade, which took place in Bolzano, in order to commemorate 10 years from the end of the First World War (the Great War).
Five years later, precisely in 1933, the brass band was constituted. Both are honoured of identifing themselves with the figure of AURELIO ROBINO, Colonel of “Bersaglieri”, from Legnano, who received a golden Medal for Military Valour, and died at the head of his regiment in Gramigna d’Isonzio – Gorizia, on 17th May 1917.
The Brass Band AURELIO ROBINO is now composed by people belonging to all social classes: we can find students, workers, employees, craftsmen and even some retired people, who share the same passion for the music of “Bersaglieri”.
All the Brass Bands of “Bersaglieri” in Italy, like ours, play by heart, without scores. It is a characteristic which is not due to improvisation, but to the incessant study of music: as for us, our courses take place on Monday evening and on Wednesday evening. The Brass Band of “Bersaglieri” makes use of four types of wind instruments, the so-called “brass”, and precisely: trumpet, baritone, F bass or B bass, alto E flat flügelhorn.
The Brass Band AURELIO ROBINO has always kept up the name and the prestige of the city of Legnano, wherever it has gone, in Italy or abroad.
It has received a lot of recognitions:
- a certificate of Municipal Merit from the city of Legnano;
- a certificate of Honour from the National Precidency of “Bersaglieri”, the seat of which is in Rome.
The chief of Brass Band is Bersagliere CARLO LATTUADA, a dynamic young man, who has taken over the conducting of our Brass Band since the year 2000; he is the successor of Bersagliere PIETRO RUSSO, who had conducted the Brass Band for 40 years.
